Research Permits concerning Jyväskylä Educational Consortium Gradia

In case of conducting a research or study concerning Gradia, its institutions and activities, a Research Permit must be applied for. It is obligatory for any study or questionnaire concerning Gradia’s institutions, students or staff. Gradia will not provide any data or forward any questionnaires in any channel without the Research Permit.

It is advisable to make an agreement on the opportunity to conduct a research in Gradia in advance.    

Application for the Research Permit and the necessary attachments

Research conducted within the institutions of The Jyväskylä Educational Consortium Gradia requires a research permit. Applications must be submitted using the printable Research Permit Application Form available at the bottom of this page. The signed application and all required appendices must be submitted electronically to tutkimusluvat@gradia.fi.

By submitting a research permit application, the applicant undertakes to comply with legislation governing the processing of personal data and the related obligations. Any personal data collected for the research must be processed and disposed of appropriately after the study has been completed.

The application must include a Research Plan, a Data Protection Statement and a Participant Information Sheet. If the research includes a survey, the survey questionnaire must also be attached. Additional documents relevant to the implementation of the research may be included where necessary.

If the research or thesis requires access to confidential information, the researcher must obtain written consent from each participant. If the research involves participants under 15 years of age, written consent from the participant’s legal guardian is required and must be attached to the application. Where applicable, a confidentiality undertaking must also be provided.

For survey-based research, the application must include both the survey questionnaire and the Participant Information Sheet that will be provided to participants. Where necessary, information intended for the legal guardians of participants under 15 years of age must also be attached.

All required appendices and any other documents necessary for conducting the research must be submitted electronically together with the application.

Decision of the Research Permit

The decision of the permit is delivered to the applicant via email.

The decision-making process includes appointing a contact person to support the researcher in conducting the research in Gradia. The researcher is obliged to inform the contact person of any changes concerning the research, collecting the research data or the planned schedule.

After having completed the research, an abstract of the research results shall be sent to Gradia. The abstracts will be published periodically in Gradia’s publication series.
