Gradia gives instructions for students and staff announcing a ban for all travelling starting on 11 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus

We have delivered instructions for our students and members of staff concerning the corona virus COVID-19 and are intensely following the situation. In epidemic infections, the instructions given by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare as well as those by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs are followed.

The instructions concerning study and work safety will be updated according to the respective needs.

The COVID19 virus causes a respiratory infection and primarily spreads by droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Travelling

Gradia has set a ban for travelling abroad on 11 March concerning all travels connected with studies or work. The same refers to the visits of foreign students and staff to Gradia. The ban is valid until 31 July 2020.

At this point, no study periods or work placements abroad will take place and all the bookings already made will be cancelled or postponed till the next school year. Extra costs caused by cancellations will be taken care of by Gradia. The already fixed exchange periods will be finished according to the plans if the situation in the hosting country does not change.

Hand and coughing hygiene preventing respiratory infections

The students and staff have been instructed to good hand and coughing hygiene and to avoid shaking hands. It is important to often wash your hands with water and soap.

When coughing or sneezing, the mouth and nose are to be covered with a disposable handkerchief.

If, however, any symptoms may occur, students are instructed to contact the student health care, the nearest health care center or emergency service.
